Ground-breaking all women cohort announced for CyberCX Academy

On International Women’s Day, CyberCX has opened applications for a ground-breaking new all women cohort of the CyberCX Academy.
The CyberCX Academy is the largest private sector commitment to addressing Australia’s chronic cyber skills shortage, with the program on track to train 500 people over three years.
The all women cohort announced today builds on the success of the CyberCX Academy, taking an industry-leading approach to change the status quo and bring more women into the cyber security workforce at scale.
Deliberate and decisive action is clearly needed to improve gender equality outcomes in the sector, with recent research from Per Capita revealing women’s workforce participation in cyber security currently sits at just 21 per cent.
In a highly competitive labour market, CyberCX also recognises the need to grow the overall pool of talent within the cyber security sector.
The CyberCX Academy all women cohort will not only make a meaningful contribution to improving gender diversity in the sector, it will also unlock previously untapped potential by providing tailored pathways for women outside the workforce to find a rewarding career in cyber security.
For the all women cohort, the CyberCX Academy will deliver a tailored part-time program from Monday to Thursday, with contact hours reduced to better accommodate women whose circumstances may not allow them to commit to a full-time role.
This ground-breaking cohort is open to applications from female-identifying and non-binary applicants based in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane, with the cohort commencing July 2023.
CyberCX Academy is particularly keen to hear from women that have a passion for securing their communities, and who are looking for a career change or transition with part-time hours or have a need for flexible working hours.
Applications for the CyberCX Academy all women cohort will close on Monday, 17 April 2023.

CyberCX CEO John Paitaridis said, “The cyber security industry is expected to face a shortfall of roughly 30,000 professionals in the near future – a gap that cannot be closed by relying on established pathways.”
“More women working in cyber security will be great for the safety and security of the Australian community, businesses, and government,” Paitaridis added.
CyberCX Academy Director Rosemary Driscoll said, “The under-representation of women in the cyber security workforce will not be fixed by good intentions alone.”
“This cohort has been designed to open doors for women who never saw themselves as cyber security professionals, those who are wondering how they will juggle the reskilling needed to enter the workforce, and those who are struggling to re-enter the workforce after time away from paid employment,” Driscoll added.
